Rich in culture and studious in academic work. Akuse International School is a must-want-to attend kindergarten through to Junior High School.
My days as a pupil taught me to appreciate rich Ghanaian culture, and appreciate studies in all discipline. Combining a multi-race of talented youngsters, AIS brings out the best in the youth and equip them for every hurdle they may face in life.
Academic work is at the helm of affair in AIS. Students are taught courses that will trigger critical thinking. Debates with neighboring schools have not been left out.
From the above picture, we view a dance been performed by the then kindergarten pupils to portray one of Ghana's finest cultural dances.
Students are allowed to undertake science projects, technical skills, gardening, home economics, textiles.
Sporting activities are organized on a regular basis to foster cooperation among pupils and teachers in the Akuse area. Field trips are not in exempt as students get the opportunity to visit different parts of the country to further study, socialize and release the stress of academic work.
Its singing time and pupils rush out with their singing note books and pens to either learn or sing a new or old song. Well I can still hear, "my grandfather's clock, jolly old Saint Nicholas, Glorious things of thee are spoken, and many others bubbling in my head.
Oh and on Friday mornings right after morning assembly, our shouts of joy as the headmaster approves of our changing for Physical Education (P.E). Right down from primary 4 to 6 you can hear shouts, "change for Pee Eee, change for Pee Eee".
Music and dance takes of on Friday afternoon right after the second break and that's where the fun begins. We are taught how to dance and sing native songs and drumming. To throw a little fun into this session, we normally will dance in classes.
Each pupil has a section he or she belongs to and each section has a plot of land on which they are to keep very neat every week. On Fridays, the teacher on duty will announce the results of sections based on the work they did on their plots and also collate marks awarded during class sessions to pupils who have shown exceptional attitude. Oh my, there is joy when a section wins and pupils cannot wait to pull the legs of a section that lost. This was and is fun.
My favorite days in school were mostly during the christmas festive period where the pupils where afforded the opportunity to rehearse and stage a nativity play for the entire public.
To crown every academic year, a speech and prize giving day is organized. This is to award brilliant students for that year and also for the headmaster to give a speech on the schools standing to parents and guardians in attendance.
This is Akuse International School, and these are some of the things that make it fun.
